Pretty much the same thing happened in every episode. Emily, the little girl who owned the shop where Bagpuss lived would bring in something that had been damaged. Under the warmth of Emily's love, Bagpuss and his friends would come to life, the object would be mended, the toys would sing and then Bagpuss would go to sleep and that was it until next time. But we had learned that broken things could be mended and people will still love you when you're old and saggy. The world was safe.
