    • Jeans that make a statement

      Levi's jeans

      21 August 2002

Levi Jeans. What would you rather have clinging to you below the waistline? They are the jeans that make a statement, ooze sex, attitude and position themselves at the top of the denim heap. The icon with the horses trying to tear them apart is great - even if it is not true. A true Lovemark.

    • Inspires my confidence

      Qantas Airways

      16 April 2004

QANTAS - or for those who don't know the history (or why there is no U after Q) The "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Service. The safest and most reliable airline in the world. one of the longest continually operating. The hyperbole could continue......the brand has polish and inspires my confidence.

    • The dance inside the glass

      Guinness

      20 April 2004

It's a hot day, or a cold day, or a mild day......ok it's any day. You stand at the bar and order a pint of Guinness and watch the dance inside the glass unfold as the brew which divides the opinion of drinkers by a chasm, gently readies itself to be consumed. A bead of sweat breaks on the brow in anticipation. Then the taste. Pure magic. An Irish love since 1759 and now a world lovemark.

    • The bridge that screams "I am Sydney"

      Sydney Harbour Bridge

      14 May 2004

The coat hanger, the bridge, the landmark. As this piece of riveted steels sits majestically over Sydney harbour, keeping a watchful eye on the Sydney Opera House, one marvels at its magnetic attraction. Live with a view of it and have your property price climb, sail under it on the way to Cockle Bay and understand its scope. Walk over it and love the way it feels. A major artery in the circulatory system of the city that is Sydney, the bridge connects north and south and is the landmark that screams at its audience “I am Sydney”.

    • This tattoo on the spirit

      XXXX beer

      29 September 2004

I can't believe it, a whole year with no support for this true lovemark! What does XXXX mean? To love the brand is to love who you are - A Queenslander. I don't' care - bring on the jokes, the jibes, the branch office tag. Being a Queenslander means getting up each morning and being bloody proud about "what" you are and "where" you come from. Being a Queenslander this brand is embedded into the psyche as the first choice amongst the amber ales of tis great nation. Yes the Kiwis own the company, but nobody will take away the heart, soul and feeling that is bound up in this tattoo on the spirit of every Queenslander's soul.

    • Enormous pride

      Australia

      07 January 2005

Some years ago I thought the USA had the mortgage on patriotism, indeed the USA has much to be proud if. It wasn’t until I reached a point of navel gazing introspection in my life that I realised that my fellow citizens of Australia and indeed I myself have a true sense of burning patriotism inside. Typically we self deprecate in our humour and mock ourselves and our culture, but take deep offence if somebody else mocks us or our land. We take enormous pride in the diversity of the nation, in its geographical diversity despite the fact that very diversity plagues us with bushfires, droughts and huge distances between major locations. We love our ethnic diversity and the richness it brings to our culture. Yes I am Australian and what does that mean to me? Simply, it means everything.
