    • An investment in making my days extra special

      La Perla

      16 March 2007

Sheer luxury. The pieces are so beautiful they make me feel like a million bucks even if I’m wearing a cheap t-shirt from a market in Tokyo. The prices are expensive, true, but I see it as an investment in making my days extra special. Besides, I spend the most time, the most intimate time with them.

    • Dreams of me and my mother return

      Chanel

      16 March 2007

This is such a classic fragrance. My mother used to wear this and I remember smelling it on her skin and on her pillow when I curled up on my parents’ bed. Whenever I catch a scent of Chanel No.5, dreams of me and my mother return and I feel her with me once again.

    • A promise of a good read

      Faber & Faber

      12 April 2007

For me, the two lower-case ’f’s on the spine of Faber & Faber books is a promise of a good read. Recently, on the Eurostar to Paris, I sat across from a woman who pulled out a Faber & Faber book from her bag and started reading. I took out my own Faber book (Seamus Heaney’s ’District and Circle’), and not long after that, two of us women were talking like old friends.

    • There's a Lovemark here for everyone

      Demeter Fragrance Library

      18 May 2007

Not everyone wants to smell like Play-Doh or Dirt, but how divine to spritz oneself with the scent of Chocolate Covered Cherries or fresh laundry! Demeter has gone to the effort of bottling unusual scents that remind you of the special moments in every day. I love their approach, and though I wouldn’t wear all their scents, I am sure there’s a Lovemark here for everyone. And if you must quell the child within you, there’s always the option to smell like your favourite flavour of Jelly Beans.

    • A touch of structure and order to my day

      The Times crossword

      19 July 2007

I don’t live in the United Kingdom, or receive the The Times - but I always have a Times Crossword book on my night table. There is something truly therapeutic about working through the clues and filling out the spaces. Solving the riddles brings a touch of structure and order to my day. Love it.

    • A staple!

      Green & Black's

      20 August 2007

Having the schedules we do, my boyfriend and I hardly ever eat at home. It’s usually a matter of meeting up in the city and having dinner together. Our fridge is pretty pathetic as well. The last time I looked (this morning), we had cheese, 2 bagels, orange juice and milk. However, my boyfriend has a rule in the house - no matter what happens, we shall always have a bar of Green & Blacks 70% Dark Chocolate in the house. He may not eat it everyday, but knowing that it’s there if he wants is comfort enough. A staple!

    • Life just gets easier with perfect skin

      Origins

      24 September 2007

As someone who has a high degree of awareness in beauty products on the market (it’s a part of my job and an expensive hobby!), Origins is the brand you’ll find me using every single day. I use a range of their products, from Modern Fusion to White Tea facial protector. I cannot say enough good things about their Skin Transforming Catalyst. It delivers results and it is something that has boosted my self-esteem and confidence. Life just gets easier with perfect skin.

    • Delicious

      Whole Foods

      10 October 2007

Whole Foods delivers a whole shopping experience. Never has buying daily basics been so - delicious. The presentation of the food, knowing that they try to put the best produce in front of you, the colours, smells, even the weight of vegetables, packets and cans! Whole Foods. My Lovemark.

    • It's class, elegance, chic!

      Persol

      05 November 2007

I carry this little bit of old fashioned Italian glamour in my handbag. I know it may sound ridiculous to say that I can't live without my Persol sunglasses, but I have been known to drive all the way home, when halfway from my destination, to pick up the Persols I have left behind. It's class, elegance, chic!

    • Puts me right in a festive mood

      Veuve Clicquot

      12 December 2007

I know a special occasion is around the bend when I look at my shopping list and its says 'bottles of Veuve'. The sight of those sensuous bottles in my fridge puts me right in a festive mood leading up to the holidays. Then there's the joyous popping of the cork and the decadent bubbles that fizz. Now all I want for Christmas is that beautiful wine cellar designed by Porsche!

    • Melted in a warm sweetness

      Cadbury

      27 May 2008

For a while, I began to start eating 'higher-end' chocolates, like Godiva, Lindt, Butlers and Green & Blacks, but the other day, I had a sugar craving and bought a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk from the local grocery store. The shiny purple wrapper brings a lot of childhood memories back for me. But the magic really happened once I put a piece of chocolate in my mouth - it melted in a warm sweetness. Even though I may have grown out of the Cadbury Dairy Milk bar, it still has a place in my heart that remains a child forever.

    • Makes me feel better

      Ecover

      27 May 2008

I always feel guilt washing dishes. I know that sounds a little bit crazy, but it's just all that water that we use washing and rinsing, and then there's all that soap going down the drain. Using Ecover products makes me feel better about washing dishes (and clothes!). At least I know that I've lessened by contribution to the number of contaminants in the world.

    • Powerful, yet gentle

      Chloe

      07 December 2011

I can recognize the scent of Chloe's Eau De Parfum anywhere and on anyone. But even if I know someone else is wearing that beautiful fragrance, I always consider it my own. 'They're wearing my fragrance', I say to myself. I love how subtle it is - powerful, yet gentle. A beautiful combination that I can't imagine being without.
