  • No, no its our friend

"We hates em we do, its wants to hurts us, to kills us, to takes whats ours... ...no, no its our friend, its our friend..." Gollum Rocks!

  • A beautiful wonder

What a beautiful wonder seeing elves and Rivendell in the Peter Jackson movie. It reinforced my take-away from the original books. Liv Tyler as the dream elf with an overbite is totally captivating. That they actually learned elvish as created by Tolkien is delicious. The horrible terrible orcs. Bravo!

  • A little bit of Gollum in all of us

Lord of the Rings and other Tolkien works have been a part of my family for thirty years, and the fidelity to the soul of the Rings Trilogy has charmed me completely. I especially enjoyed the use of old theater gestures, characterizations and "bits of business" that my children would otherwise have never seen. Mixed with the influences of the present to make it easy for the audience to relate, and the futuristic concepts in the tech, the overall effect won lots of applause from this lady. I prayed for the healthy richness of the Brothers Hildebrandt art...and in that, they delighted me, too. Some of the casting gave me a pause...good and ill. There is a little bit of Gollum in all of us, but thank goodness..there is also Aragorn!

  • Since grade 6

Tolkien has had my mind since grade 6 when I first cracked the spine of the Hobbit, then love set in for me!

  • More than a writer

To say Tolkien is to say magic, dream, epic, fantasy... a new world far away from this. This name is now more than a writer and his tales belong to everybody.
