That warm beacon on the horizon
On a cold day, when snow is approaching, Starbucks is the place. It’s right next to my highschool so it’s easy to get to at any time of day. For me, Starbucks is that warm beacon on the horizon when you’re suffering through a hard day. The slightest sight of it or even just the name, sends warmth through me. It’s always seasonal. This time of year it’s decked out in holiday apparel and beauty. Christmas is my favorite time of year. Starbucks is where you will find me on a cold winter day, sipping on a Venti Mocha Latte with extra whip and two packets of raw sugar. I’ve gone in often enough since it opened that the shift manager already knows what I get and always greets me with a smile. All of the partners make friendly conversation and greet you warmly when you walk through those doors into the toasty comfort of that little coffee shop. It’s like a second home. It’s got such a warm atmosphere. It’s the place where everyone sets aside their differences to indulge in friendly conversation and drink a nice cup o’ Joe.

The place I go to for a 5-minute vacation
Starbucks is the place I go to for a 5-minute vacation from a hectic day. I love jetting in for a caramel macchiato or whole milk latte. I never choose drive-thru. The experience of walking in the door, waiting in line, ordering and watching the barista craft my drink is all part of the relaxation process. And for that brief moment when I’m walking back to my car, I take a sip and pretend that I’m meandering along an Italian cobblestone street after a simply perfect, espresso-sipping, leisurely breakfast at an outdoor cafe.

Like being kissed on the back of my neck
The first sip of a Starbucks Italian french press sends a chill up my spine. It's like being kissed on the back of my neck! It's also the 'comfort food' of philosophers ... my friend Ryan will confirm that!

They always smile
I just finished a 54-day, 5,000-mile trip around the western 11 states, shooting pool, primarily, but also drinking Starbucks at least twice a day in every place I stayed. There are two outstanding things about Starbucks: the provide an absolutely consistent product, and they always SMILE! And for that, I will seek them out every time.

An inseparable part of my every day
For all the lovers of the coffee drinks and all those who love to combine wonderful drinking experiences with joyful friendships - praise the Starbucks! Starbucks coffee is an inseparable part of my every day, either as an entertainment when I am bored, a comfort when I am sad, or just as an award after a long, long day. Praise the Starbucks!

No better value than Starbucks
The idea of the cool local coffee shop is such a tired, lame idea that died a long time ago in the 90's. Why do you think it was a plot point of a popular American sitcom? It only makes sense that coffee shops would go corporate. I can't stand my "locally owned" coffee shop that tries feebly to hold onto these ideals without being able to offer a better value than Starbucks. I don't want atmosphere, I just want coffee.

Absolutely made my day
Starbucks is amazing. There is a new branch opening on my street in Paris in a few weeks. I discovered this just a few days ago when I went into the branch I frequent near my work. Honestly, when I saw the sign saying, "Coming soon to Rue La Boetie", it absolutely made my day. That's what this brand is capable of. Bravo.

The blanket of "quality because it is local"
Unfortunately locally where I live, there is just too much crud wrapping themselves in the blanket of "quality because it is local" and "support local businesses" without even knowing coffee at all. They skimp on ingredients, on coffee and on milk. I will not support mediocracy just for the sake of saving some fat cat local business person who is getting rich selling swill in a cup, while hiring clueless teens who play big shot coffee barista when their school friends come in. When my lactose intollerant friends ask if they have soy milk, many locals scowl and ask what soy milk is. None of the locals even have organic milk.

A hollow core company
Starbucks is a hollow core company. The brand values don't extend to looking after their people but they sell organic coffee - go figure. Actually the coffee is terrible as well.

What awful coffee, what an awful concept
They line up like zombies for less than average coffee served and made by those young enough to work for minimum wage. What awful coffee, what an awful concept. Head for a real cafe where coffee is an art not a cost centre. Support your local barista not a college kid under the Seattle thumb.
