To even classify it as a diet is inaccurate
It's amusing to see detractors who don't understand what Atkins even is, or how it works, explaining why it's a fad, or why it's bad for you, using assumptions or minsinformation to criticize it. To even classify it as a diet is inaccurate. It's essential information about how our body processes the food we eat. For anyone doubting Atkins consider my story: over 30, metabolism slowed, performing a tertiary office job, and having hit the highest weight of my life, I made one simple change. I did not exercise more, I did not cut down my calories to starvation levels... all I did do was follow Atkins and in the process I lost 20 pounds. It's been over a year since that time, and although I'm not as strict as I was initially I've been able to keep the weight off.

Do some research
I was scared of the Atkins diet! Then I read the book. Seemed sensible and do-able. You don't eat high fat, just 'normal' fat. You still eat vegetables, and within a couple of weeks, fruit as well. Do I miss eating white bread, potatoes, refined flours and sugar. Not really, I can have them occasionally if I really want to. Do I miss the extra 17 kilos that have left my body? Only when I try on some old jeans that now fall off my hips. I eat a varied and healthy diet, am fit, slim and full of energy - and the problem is??? Not with the Atkins way of eating, but with those who criticize without knowing the facts. Read the book. Do some research.

Secretly my own private Lovemark
I was never really over weight, but after having two children I saw myself not getting back into my old clothes. I tried exercising and low fat (and almost nothing) diets, but I couldn't get the kilo's off. After strictly following Atkins I lost 15 kilos and now am well turned into a yummy mummy and feel real good about this. There is so much negative talk about the Atkins diet that it is still something I don't like to talk about, but secretly it is my own private Lovemark!!

It works fast
This is the only diet of over a dozen that I have tried and that's worked throughout my 30 years. And it works fast -- in less than five days, I had shed a couple of pounds and I could feel it. By the end of two months, I had lost 25 pounds!! I regained 8 pounds in a year's time, after which I got on the diet again and lost 15 pounds the second time around.

Confidence
I agree totaly with this, atkins gave me my confidence back. I lost 35 pounds. I felt great and was able to enjoy life again. I got a job. I had no confidence in myself to do most anything, but after I got to the weight I wanted I was like my old self again.

This latest fad
This diet is just like any other that claims to help you lose weight without any effort. The low-carb food industry is making a mint on this latest fad. All low-carb and no-carb foods are priced to the max. The only way to lose weight is to quit eating and start exercising!

Against all the old rules
Although it goes against all the old rules about nutrition, it seems to work. It is the only diet that has worked for me. You do not go hungry and I feel better and have more energy when I am on this diet. I say if it works for you, go with it.

Aching to lose weight
I'm thrilled with the potential that this diet holds for all of us over-weight people that are aching to lose with as little hardship as possible.

It all changed
I was obese my entire adult life. Nothing I did seemed to work. I exercised and ate low fat but still remained obese. Once I went on the Atkins diet, that all changed. I lost 60 lbs and my cholesterol went from 210 to 128 in five months. My blood sugar went from pre-diabetic to normal aswell. This has been easy as well as healthy. I love it and highly recommend it.

Goodbye to starvation.
This diet has been great! My wife and I lost weight and do not have to be starved. Her blood pressure has decreased and she is relying less on medication. We are sleeping better and feeling better. We can eat a lot of foods and enjoy them - I eat a salad for lunch almost every day and now love asparagus!
