This big, beautiful, old city
After 25 years in the country, I find myself living on the edge of the city. Yet, until this week, I have never been into the heart of the CBD. After an appointment ended on Elizabeth St, I turned the corner into Martin Place and walked up the pedestrian pathway and sat down on a bench and looked back. It was close to sunset and the stone of the old buildings held rich dark honey glows. Dropping away under my gaze were terraces of people walking. I suddenly felt this tremendous heart swell of pride and pleasure as I looked at the scene. This big, beautiful, old city.

Truly unbelievable
This city is truly unbelievable! I have a lot of family in Australia and decided to visit at the end of last year. I was looking forward to seeing them but not the country as what I heard didn't appeal to me. Man was I blown away! It is a city that I have fallen in love with. There is none that has quite that magic.

No matter where you come from
Sydney is a city of youthfulness and optimism. Even as I look out over it now at midnight its lights dazzle the eye and the harbour bridge reassures as a symbol of unity and belonging. No matter where you come from this city welcomes you. By day its blue skies and harbour reassure that no matter how hard your day has been, you can always kick your shoes off at its water's edge and let your stresses float away for a while.
