Best of both worlds
I've lived in Oregon all of my adult life after moving across the US and back again. Living in the heart of the Willamette Valley, we have the best of both worlds. We can drive east to the Cascade Mountains to play in the snow or drive west to the beaches of the Pacific coast. Up in our area, the ultimate whitewater rafting is the McKenzie River or upper Willamette River. We hike a lot all over the foothills of the Cascades or the Coastal range. Winters are wet but summers are mild and dry. Tillamook makes the world's best cheddar cheese and a lot more. Come and visit Oregon...you won't want to leave.

Oregon inspires devotion
Oregon is hard to explain to people who don't live here, but even visitors are awestruck by her natural beauty. The green vegetation in the Willamette Valley is vibrant and comes in so many hues, you never long for another color. The coast alternates between fierce cliffs and kindly sand beaches, dotted by pines that have been bent in the wind. The Cascade Mountains run like a pulse through the center of the state, with deep wilderness, clear lakes, and icy rivers. And to the east, a desertscape provides harsh relief from the Northwest damp. But more amazing are the people of Oregon. From hippies to rednecks, Bible-thumpers to anarchists, their common ground - the state herself - inspires devotion from all her children. And she responds by providing a life like few ever experience.

Oregon has it all!
I love Oregon. The deserty look of Eastern Oregon. Peaceful, fruit filled valleys around Hood River. Snowy white Cascade mountains. Cherry, peach and pear orchards around Medford. Fields with cows, sheep, horses, lamas, or even bison. First class rafting on the Rogue and Deschutes Rivers. Big metropolitan center around Portland with a snow capped Mt. Hood in the Distance. Great schools and a fantastic transit system. A spectacular view of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, and occasionally Mt. Rainier. The Pacific Ocean pounding against quiet beaches or crashing against huge rocks. Beautiful bays along the Oregon. Pinnacles of rocks in the Oregon Caves. The largest monolith at Cannon Beach. Huge forests where you can hike in the woods and climb mountains (even within the city limits). Rivers and lakes with the best fishing. Great snow skiing at Mt. Bachelor. A spectacular National Forest around Crater Lake. Oregon has it all!
