Pele is widely regarded as one of the best football players of all time. The Brazilian was named 'Athlete of the Century' in 1999 by the International Olympic Committee.
I had the great chance to meet Pele
I worked in Brazil in 75 as a creative in an ad agency. This is when I had the great chance to meet and shoot films with Pele. He was just wonderful, human, simple, a very kind man. After the shoot, he gave dedications to everyone present and let himself have photos taken with him. I have one myself. But the thing I really cherish is the football we shot our films he gave me with on which he wrote "A Jean Manuel com amizade do Pele". Whaoo!!!

Edson Arantes do Nascimento...Pele. He has been an idol for me since I first read his autobiography. I even wrote a masters paper on his life. An inspiration, a saint, and very human. Any success I had and have on the field is due to his inspiration. There is only one.

The father of football
He's the most famous football player of the last century. His techniques and approach with the ball is something amazing. He almost invented football, he teaches other players with his game. It seems like he and the ball were made for each other, it looks so easy the things that he could do with the ball. It's amazing to see his game and how famous his name is all over the world. For me he is the father of football.

An ambassador of a nation and its sport
Pelé is a genius. When there is a soccer ball at his feet it becomes part of his body. His talent and his magnificence transformed him into an ambassador of a nation and its sport. He's a myth, a legend that may never be outshone by any other soccer player. The athlete of the century, and possibly of all time. Pelé is the second most well known man in the world. The number one spot actually belongs to Jesus. It's quite possible that Jesus is the only one that could beat this guy.
