John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie. The puckish innovator with the trademark upturned trumpet bell. The music, the smile, those cheeks ! This man was a teacher, Icon, friend and inspiration to all. He is the reason I perform and tour today. Easily one of the most recognised sights and sounds in Jazz. Bang Bang !
