Illy is a brand of coffee produced in Trieste, Italy. The company was formed in 1933 and produces coffee beans, pre-ground coffee and Easy Serving Espresso pods.
Enchanting aroma and bold flavor
The first time I had Illy, it was my freshman year in design school. I think it was a very wet afternoon in Central St. Martin. Anyway, sitting with the girls, gossiping, trading pages from Vogue. More coffee. I have since been an avid Illy fan and by extension great espresso snob. Snob is a perfectly OK thing to be, when it comes to espresso and red wine (a whole other topic...). I'm now married and run an event production firm. I'm still the avid fan of Illy. And I think I've managed to make my husband and my employess enjoy it too. What's not to love? The enchanting aroma and bold flavor...it really is excellent!

Illy is the King Of Coffees
I remember when I was little and my mum would come home with freshly ground coffee from the shop. I loved to stick my nose into the bag and get a good smell. It smells like home, dark evenings, and something indescribably rich and good. But when I was given a sip of the black stuff, I could never understand why it didn’t taste as good as the odour it gave. I was twenty when I finally appreciated the flavour of coffee, and then I got introduced to the Italian way of steaming milk to bring out the creaminess, then pour it onto a shot of coffee, carefully so the crema ripples into beautiful patterns. And for me, Illy is the King Of Coffees. With its rounded body and hint of hazelnut it is irresistible to me, and if there is a café sporting the Illy brand, that’s where you’ll find me.

Not just a great cup of coffee, but an experience
Every coffee shop in New York that proudly displays the 'illy' sign promises to offer not just a great cup of coffee, but an experience. It's a pride in coffee, in the flavor and the memories of a European excursion. It's the recognition that you could take it to go, but it just wouldn't be as fun.

A sweet excuse to have pleasant conversations
Nothing beats a good strong cup of coffee to start my morning. China is more of a tea drinking society, but in the country where I'm from, almost everyone is into coffee. Whether meeting clients during weekdays or talking to girl friends over coffee during the weekend, it's a sweet excuse to have pleasant conversations. I've gone through tons of coffee brands until I finally found Illy Coffee and settled with the brand loyally. Now everytime I walk into coffee shops, I'm hoping to find the logo somewhere in there, knowing what I would be getting - a good strong delicious cup of coffee served in a style! These days serving coffee is an art and drinking it is a form of ritual.

Oh how I wish I bought "Dreams and Conflicts" when I had the chance this past summer in Venice, Italy. I waited and the cups sold out. Coffee cups sold out! This circumstance illustrates the power and appeal of Illy. I LUV this company.

Your average Triestino is proud of Illycaffè, like a local football team, even if their only association is that they are from the town where the gorgeous smell of roast coffee can be consumed wafting across the Piazza Unita on the edge of the sea...
