    Sept 6, 1910: Saskatchewan Football began with the formation of the Regina Rugby Club. The original idea was for the team to be a rowing club. The team's original colours were old gold and purple. They changed their name to the Regina Roughriders in 1924 and officially to the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1950. Any team that's existed for 94 years in a province with the small population that Saskatchewan has - and has their rabid fans - must be doing something right!
