My hair is untamable. At its best, it resembles a mop; at its worst, a bramble thicket. Making it look presentable is a task it seems no fancy-dancy salon product is up to. Enter Murray's Superior Pomade. Presented in a bright orange tin, it bears graphics that seem unchanged since the 1920's. The pomade itself is a waxy petroleum byproduct. Unlike other pomades, Murray's subtle scent smells vaguely of vanilla. And it moisturizes the hair while controlling it, imparting a lustrous sheen without making hair look oily or dirty. Unlike salon-quality products (carrying salon-quality price tags) Murray's costs US $3.75 per tin. It lasts four months. That's about three months longer than what I'd find at a salon. Murray's is manufactured in Ferndale, Michigan, a place I can only assume is famous for the healthy, manageable hair its citizens wear so proudly.
