It is like an old friend
I am a graphic design student so I do not have much money at all. My camera is the most expensive item I own. I take it everywhere with me, and that can make me nervous if I don't have the right protection for my camera. I have been everywhere from Africa to around Europe with my Lowepro bag, and it has never ever let me down. It is like an old friend. My camera bag is a little old now, but it still is in perfect condition.

Lowepro saved my gear from me
Lowepro produces camera bags. They've made them since 1967. They have more experience in photo equipment carrying than I have in photography although I'm a professional photojournalist. The brand is even older than I am! All of this I didn't know when I bought my first Lowepro bag. The connection between a photographer and his/hers bag is one of the most ambivalent things in the world. Most of the time you wish it wasn't there. It's heavy, everybody spots you in a second, you can't move in small places without bumping into someone. But just wait till it starts to rain, and the waterproof bag is immediately the best thing ever happened to you. Protecting your gear is crucial. I bought my first Lowepro bag as a beginner. I knew I could not afford a new camera or new lenses if anything happened with the ones I already had. Lowepro was the rational choice. Protective yet not the most expensive.
The love that made Lowepro my Lovemark started to form slowly. I discovered the modularity, the little smart pieces of the design, the rigidity and the sheer interior size of the bag. The moment that made me loyal beyond reason came years after I bought my first bag. I already had a second Lowepro camera bag, a large beltpack. I was traveling with it in Transylvania in the winter. I descended on a hillside, and decided to slide on my back. As I hoped, I made it much faster than I would on my feet. I only realized at the end of my ride down that my beltpack was around my waist all the time. I checked all my stuff piece to piece but everything was all right. Lowepro saved my gear from me. Since then I discovered Lowepro's own little world in which they listen to the photographers advices, but they know exactly when to ignore them to finally make a perfect product. They are the specialists, and after six years I learned to listen to them as well. I have no doubt that my next bag will be a Lowepro. I won't even look at other brands. Wouldn't make sense.
