A truly remarkable gesture
Oban is without doubt one of the finer single malt whiskeys in the world in terms of flavor. Mellow enough for the inexperienced drinker, but providing enough smoke and peat to make you bare your teeth slightly at the first sip. But my love affair with the brand came from the company's response to a letter I sent them when a dear friend and life-long fan of Oban died several years back. They expressed genuine sympathy and offered to toast him in a sense of solidarity. It was a truly remarkable gesture and added to the sense of community shared by single malt fans.
