  • We love NIN right back!

I've been a fan of Trent Reznor aka Nine Inch Nails since I first saw him perform in a skanky little club in Minneapolis in the early 90s. Pretty Hate Machine was one of the CDs that made electronic music HARD, was just grungy enough and damn fun to blast in the car. Downward Spiral was awesome as well, and spawned a classic video (Closer) and classic songs (Hurt, March of the Pigs). While The Fragile and With Teeth have their detractors, they both have shiny bits and cool packaging (David Carson). More recent releases Year Zero, Ghosts and The Slip are constantly within my earshot. Since that first show in MPLS, I have seen NIN over a dozen times, in five countries and have been inspired by Trent's constant stretching of interaction online (the Year Zero ARG won Gold at Cannes in 2008) and in live performance (see YouTube for clips from Lollapalooza 2008). Clearly, the love is mutual between NIN and fans - rocking new release The Slip was given away free of charge as a gift to fans for being loyal - and it isn't sucky b-sides and demos either!! Recently released from their recording contract, NIN is a brand that lives as comfortably online as they do onstage. I saw NIN at Lollapalooza in Chicago recently (Aug 2008) and was blown away by the music, the band, the staging and the great little speech that Trent gave about the music and the fans that he so clearly appreciates - and we love NIN right back!
