The Lord of the Rings is a epic fantasy story by J. R. R. Tolkien, a sequel to his earlier work, The Hobbit. The trilogy was developed into three highly successful films by New Zealand director, Peter Jackson.

A true testament
Not only have I watched each of the incredibly fascinating movies more times than I have hair folicles - and I'm two hairs short of a fur-bearing mammal - (totally kidding), but I examined the movies thoroughly. There is so much spiritual messaging in these movies. I almost feel like The Lord of The Rings is giving us a glimpse of some aspects of life outside of the flesh, between imagination and real life, life and death, or future happenings. Either way, there are some really great spiritual lessons that we can learn or just recall into our lives. Gandalf for instance, speaks to Frodo, who at the time stated that he wished the ring had never come to him. Gandalf quickly reminds Frodo that it is not our job to try to change or lament our lives happenings, but determine how we use the time that we are given. And for a lot of people that is a bit of a "hmmm" moment through tough times, big or small. That is only 1 of MANY "hmmm" moments that you will have, or have had throughout the movies. The Lord of the Rings - A true testament to conquering all that is bad with every bit of good at all times! And we must call upon our spirits, just as Aragorn did.

They moved me to tears
When I was young I read science fiction. A friend of mine tried to "convert" me to Tolkien. I said why would I read about dwarves and elves when I could read about starships and space travel? I eventually bought all the books, and though the initial ramp through the first four chapters of The Hobbit was difficult ("Bilbo seems to only be worried about tea and cakes") I finally hit my stride and consumed the whole series. Read his other writings. Waited 7 years for the Silmarillion. Waited another 30 years for The Children of Hurin. Other than the Bible, no other books have so changed my life. They change the way you look at the world and adversity. They give you a deeper understanding of truth and good, and the insidious power of evil. They inspire to the greatest nobility and reveal the deepest meanness. They moved me to tears.

Classics that will never fade
"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." JRR Tolkien takes us off into a magical world that is captivating, and imaginative. Nothing makes me cry more than thinking of Frodo and Sam on Mount Doom. Nothing makes me smile more than the antics of Merry and Pippin. These books, and now movies as well are unbelievable. They are classics that will never fade.

A timeless piece
I so loved the books as a child and then as an adult, I was terrified that the films would be anticlimactic but Jackson did such a great job and the brilliant story telling sung through. These films got my 8 year old son entranced by the magic and now we are reading the books together, it truly is a timeless piece of story telling.

Living in their own environment
J.R.R. Tolkien is one of the greatest authors and philologists of the world! He managed to create a story(based on true historical elements) with a variety of mythological figures living in their own environment (Middle Earth). What is amazing about him to me is that he created the characters' language based on his professional linguistic studies. Each and every character has his very own background, so, in order to keep reading his books, I had to make notes!!

Will always be the one...
LOTR has won 'Best Read of all times' on the BBC in the UK, in Germany, and certainly in my heart. To me as a language lover, Middle Earth is full of little gems. Tolkien's work of his life will always be the one and only book of its kind. And don't forget that Tolkien gave the English speaking world a story of the world's creation which rivals Greek mythology. The Silmarillion explains how the world was created from a song. Does it get any better?

A lifetime of inspiration and imagination
The Lord of The Rings is not a book, or series of books. LOTR is definitely not a movie trilogy. LOTR is not a story. LOTR is not a commercial invention. It is art. It is one man's lifetime of inspiration and imagination. It is an entire world of its own. It was never meant to be a brand. The people who read it, see it and experience it (some even live it) have made it a lovemark. A true Lovemark.

Universally loved
You know you're obsessed when you're going to sites like these and screaming when you see JRRT and LOTR listed. You know you're obsessed when you've got a shirt that says "got LOTR?" You know you're obsessed when you manically try to convert everyone you meet to the wonderfulness that is LOTR. And yes, I am obsessed. And yes, LOTR is the best thing to hit American lit since... ever. My highest compliments to Peter Jackson, as well, who managed to take such a universally loved work of art and transform it into a universally loved different work of art.
