Woodstock was a rock concert held in Bethel, New York, from 15 to 18 August 1969.
People, time and place
In 1969, Max Yasgur's farm in Bethel, New York became the setting for Woodstock, 3 Days of Peace & Music. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered to enjoy camaraderie and music together in a time and place that was so special, so innocent, and so far removed from today's hectic and sometimes threatening world. Some of the all-time greats of music including The Who, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young performed. Organizers tried to replicate the experience, but like all sequels, 'Woodstock 2' fell woefully short. If you watch the Woodstock DVD you'll get a taste of how powerul music can be in defining people, time and place. And if you love music from the 60's, I promise you'll get goosebumps.
