  • I heard on NPR..."

I never am less than amazed at how much one can learn from listening to the radio. I can’t tell you how many times a sentence starts, "I heard on NPR..." As much as I enjoy the news programs, secretly, I am madly in love with the weekend programing, which makes me laugh out loud (Car Talk, Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, etc.)

  • Love the member card. Love Saturdays

I had completely stopped listening to radio years ago due to the abundance of annoying commercials and poor quality of programming/content. Then I sold my TV. Quickly losing touch with the world, I discovered NPR. Now I'm an addict, listen all day every day at work. Nearly all my conversations start with, "On NPR ..." Love the member card. Love Saturdays.

  • Thank goodness for NPR!

I don't know how people do AM talk radio. Thank goodness for NPR! I appreciate NPR's intelligent programs. It's comforting to know that when I'm on the road and need to hear the news, I can just turn on NPR.

  • This fine option

Yesterday, when I met some recently transplanted Bookcrossers and was enjoying their generous offer of a ride home, I told my new friends about how to find Honolulu's TWO NPR affiliates. I used to be a producer for NPR and a love of radio is deeply embedded in my view of/to the world. It is important that we represent to others, who'll at least learn to consider this fine option.

  • A friend on the road

National Public Radio. Just go to the low numbers on the radio in the rental car and there it will be. It can be any time of day, and you will know it when you find it. Maybe it is the "N" in NPR... Susan, Scott, Garrison, or the Car Talk guys. Maybe it is the local programing. Maybe it is even the "beg-a-thons." A good friend that is always with you!

  • A rare occasion

Thanks to NPR, an opportunity for America to hear what is happening in the rest of the world. Objectively. Unfortunately a rare occasion, with most news channels broadcasting what sells, news being the by-product.

  • People, places and stories

I love NPR because it reminds us that America is more than just New York, Washington, and LA. Listening to NPR programming, especially participatory programs like Car Talk, unites the country and introduces us to people, places and stories where ratings-driven news outlets don't bother to look.

  • I can't thank them enough

Best content on the radio. WNYC (my NPR affiliate) has outstanding news and cultural programming, but what I really can't live without is "This American Life." And of course I can't thank NPR enough for introducing me to David Sedaris.

  • NPR = nearly perfect radio

Face it - most radio wastes your time. You hear the same songs all across the dial. But there's one beacon of distinction, all across the country. It's NPR. It's the one place where news programs are actually intelligent. The one place where features are invariably intriguing. The one place where Car Talk makes you laugh out loud while driving. It's Nearly Perfect Radio.

  • A cure for boredom

Quite simply, the best programming on the air. Interesting and quality, at all times. I don't dread staying home sick anymore -- instead of lying in bed bored all day, I listen to NPR in bed all day, and my boredom is cured.
