  • The most irritating thing

TFL is probably the most irritating thing in the world, and somehow this makes it a Lovemark. There is a hidden pleasure in hating the London Underground, the strikes, the tourists laughing at the 'mind the gap' signs...For all these reasons, but above all because it made my life a living hell for years, they are certainly a Lovemark for me

  • The map is iconic

London is fairly new to me. As an irregular but increasingly frequent leisure visit, my heart soars as I descend into the tube at King's Cross. A geographer by training, the map is iconic - the lines and the font a joy. The best bit though is the sound - the rattle of the carriages down the track and the announcements. Wonderful.

  • Sit back and soak it in

When the Tube has stopped running for the night where do you turn for cheap transport? Ahhh the NightBus! A showcase of the dirty underbelly of Londinium in all of it's colorful glory. The wait is potentially one of the scariest and longest you'll ever endure, but once you are on sit back and soak it in.

  • Efficient and effective

Loved it immediately when I first saw it in the 80’s. It is very efficient on the graphic side and very effective on the user and tourist side.

  • London Subway connection

Missing England, I have enjoyed the articles and humor people all share on www.geocities.com/themole7/home2.html about the London Subway system. The first time I commented, I met a new friend and have enjoyed a new friendship of sharing pictures and stories of the different parts of England we have been to.

  • A complex elegance

There are very few transportation systems in the world that match the scope and the effectiveness of London Transport. The Tube will get you almost anywhere in London and the bus network picks up where the Tube won't reach. After hours, the night bus system will get you home, wherever you live. The complex elegance of the map of the Tube is almost a work of art. Using London Transport is a joy I always look forward to when travelling to London.
