Best examples of a Lovemark
One of the best examples of a Lovemark. The Scottish people really do get annoyed if anyone talks bad about it - and, when abroad, the first thing most Scottish people will ask for (besides alcohol!) is IRN-BRU. The only drink brand that I know of (except possibly Tim Horton's) which has established a loving relationship with the consumers who drink it. Plus the adverts do help!

Cures all known ills
Tastes like bubble gum. Out-sells Coke. Cures all known ills. Great with vodka (42 Below). Puts hair on your chest. Made in Scotland from girders.

I have to buy when entering and leaving Scotland
I love this drink - I remember getting it with fish and chips for dinner with my grandpa, spilling it on the carpet in the lounge and leaving a huge stain, drinking it straight out the glass bottle in the park getting hicups then going to the shop to get my 20p back and buying another bottle with the money my mum gave me! I live in Denmark just now and it is my one thing that I have to buy when entering and leaving Scotland is a bottle of Irn Bru!! On my recent travels to Russia I learnt that they sell it there too, so my little Scottish drink that started off in Falkirk, my home town, is now somewhere else!

Serve chilled, very chilled
It's very Scottish. One of two countries that out sells Coke as the No.1 frizzy drink! It's a drink you either really like or really dislike, nothing in between. Geat cure for a hang over, serve chilled, very chilled.

Really hits the mark in glass bottles
Whilst Irn Bru is a notably palletable soft drink in a can, small 500ml plastic bottle, and the larger 2l plastic bottle; where it really hits the mark is in the returnable glass bottles. This affords the drinker a unique hand held brand experience unrivalled even by the soft curves of the coke glass bottles. I buy a crate whenever I am in Scotland, it's an icon!

An important feature for a soft drink in Scotland
"Made in Scotland from girders" this claim accompanied IRN-BRU (Iron Brew). It offered a bubble-gum flavoured alternative to Coke & Co. High glucose and caffeine made it a pre-requisite for all-nighters in the university computer lab in the late 80's and early 90's. Any self-respecting Glaswegian cab driver would have a (glass) bottle wedged between the meter and the windscreen, probably to keep him awake when nothing happened in the small hours of the night and to keep him out of trouble with some of the roughs that populate Glasgow's streets after closing time. IRN-BRU was always there when we needed a "pick-me-up" and is veritably the best hang-over cure in the world. An important feature for a soft drink in Scotland. My drink, anytime I can get it.

Really does fix a hangover
Filthy stuff. Totally destroys carpets if spilt. However combines well with hell's Bells and really does fix a hangover (when combined with a greasy fry up).

Smells like sweets
Cures a hangover like no other remedy on earth, tastes like Smarties candies, brilliant orange color, smells like sweets, and horrible for the teeth. Strangely addictive. Belief in its curing powers has attracted a cult following - including me.
