I am even more excited to arrive!!
I've heard many great things about Australia, especially recently as I'm moving there in 2 months from now and everyone has their expert opinions to give! I haven't even visited there before but based on 'common knowledge', if I visited, I'd never want to come home anyways. Reading this post and all of these comments, I am even more excited to arrive!!

A modern and progressive society
Now more than ever, Australia is the place to be. We've had our political and social woes, due mostly to an embarrassingly inept twit named John Howard. He is out and we now have someone so progressive and inspiring that it's literally hard to believe. The problem? I've lived more than half of my life away from Australia and am still trying to figure out why. The U.S. has afforded me opportunities that at least for my career path would have been difficult to achieve at home. Yet now I'm stepping back and reconsidering what life is all about. Australia has amazing people, great music, great weather and a sense of space that you can't find in many other places in the world. And now with new leadership, a new approach to reconciling with it's past, and a forward thinking approach to the environment it's definitely a benchmark for a modern and progressive society.

We've done a fantastic job on this country
As an Australian, I completely agree with what Andrew said, that we mock ourselves in humour, but take offence in insults to our land. Although our history isn't the most interesting (what the hell, it's downright bloody boring!) and people look distastefully on why our land was founded, they all have to admit, we've done a fantastic job on this country. I'd never live anywhere else.

Completely astounding
Being an American, I was completely ignorant about Australia and Australians. In America all you know of Australia is "Throw another shrimp on the barbie" and "Crickey!" and "That's not a knife". But I must say that Australia is a wonderful and highly developed country that was completely astounding to travel around in. Each state is so different and the people are such individuals! There were no crocodile hunters but friendly people having a good time. I'm so jealous of you beautiful country!

I am very grateful.
I was born in poverty, and am a mother that wants a different life for my children. I had the opportunity to move out here in Australia, and I am very grateful. Now I'm happy and so is my familly.

I love visiting Australia.
Because I live just across the ocean from Australia, I have visited the country numerous times. After a few trips it came to me why I love visiting Australia so much: the people were just so charming. It was amazing how they welcomed me with open arms. It would be my pleasure to go back to Australia and I hope to be able to live there someday.

I feel very much at home.
Australia is very good. There are many jobs for me and I a feel very much at home. With many more Asians around, I do not feel too out of place. Australia is a second home to me, and all I have to say to that is "Yeah baby".

I found myself a job in a matter of weeks.
Australia has great job opportunities for a person who is prepared to work for their money. I studied in Ukraine and found getting a job quite difficult. I moved to Australia and found that job oppotunities were available to hard workers like myself. With that promise, I found myself a job in a matter of weeks. Thank you for giving me these oppotunities Australia.

A wonderful nation...
I studied in Australia for a year through an international exchange. I would be lying if I told you I wasn't scared about leaving my country to stay in a country I knew little about for an entire year. But I saw a completely different way of life...and loved it!! I got my first 'real' tan, along with my first real sunburn! I impressed my friends at home with my ever growing repertoire of 'Aussie slang'. Among my favourite Aussie sayings, 'Strewth!' would have to be my favorite. Keep up the good work citizens of Australia, you live in a wonderful nation.
