  • I still have mine today

This is how myself and about a dozen other people bought a Leatherman: late 1980's canoe trip in the middle of Minnesota, days from anywhere. A barbed, two hook lure gets caught in a friend's leg. We watched in horror and wonder as the guide took this amazing tool off his belt, snipped the hooks, and removed the lure. Every person on that trip bought one when they got home, and I still have mine today.

  • With it, I'm almost entirely self-sufficient

Can't live without my Leatherman Wave! With it, I'm almost entirely self-sufficient, and it's helpful in any minor situation. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I've actually been caught plucking my eyebrows with it in a pinch : )

  • In one form or another

Simply put I am a walking tool kit. I carry at least one style of Leatherman tool when I am wearing pants that require a belt. I either carry the PST with its tool adapter or the Wave with its tool adapter. I have the Micra on my key ring. I have other versions made to look like the Leatherman, but it's these tools I carry on my person in one form or another.

  • Love at first sight

Boy, when I first saw it I loved it, but I tried buying a cheaper version - no where near the same in function or quality. The actual Leatherman is the very best and worth the money!

  • Greatest tool ever made

The Leatherman Wave is perhaps the greatest tool ever made. Compact, relatively lightweight, comfortable to use, and very useful! I'm appalled to see the Swiss Army Knife so far up this list. There's no comparisson!

  • A modern day genius

Love it? I'd sleep with it if it were a little more padded. Honestly, we're inseparable. I'm a technician by trade and by nature. Nearly everywhere I go something needs fixing or cutting or filing or opening... My trusty Leatherman Supertool is always at my side. And reliable? You bet! When I finally did manage to damage it through some particularly stupid means (a long story), the local Leatherman distributor simply replaced it FREE of charge. I credit Tim Leatherman as a modern day genius for coming up with something so functional, well designed, light, and easy to use. Others must think so too, just look at all the imitations that have sprung up.

  • Neither imitation nor enhancements

My original stainless steel Leatherman tool hangs on my belt every time I know I'm going to encounter some real work. Of course I have to put it in my checked-in luggage when I fly to avoid the temptation of dismantling the aircraft. I've used it for everything from rearranging the telephone wiring in a Manila hotel room to dismantling the carburettor of a Lambretta scooter in suburban Saigon. Neither imitation nor enhancements have yet tempted me away from my original Leatherman (now known as the PST).
