The strength of one small creature...
My wonderful boyfriend introduced this book to me. It was one of his favorites as a child and he was actually able to recite most of it. I, in spite of me being a preschool teacher, had never read this particular Dr. Seuss masterpiece. It would be a grave understatement to suggest that Dr. Seuss' work was anything less than genius. Children can appreciate the lyrical rhymes and imagery, and also learn something about basic civil rights... "And the turtles? All the turtles were free! As turtles and maybe All creatures should be." My throat closes just a bit and I get goosebumps every time I share this wonderful story about the strength of one small creature, with my smallest friends. And now, my boyfriend and I recite it together, and I even let him be Mack sometimes.
