  • Cloaked in mystery

This gigantic statue of the Virgin Mary has been a symbol of Lebanon for over 50 years, having stood perched on a mountain overlooking the sea since 1908. It was always cloaked in a sense of mystery. During war days, thousands swore that the statue moved and protected the houses from missiles with its hands. This statue has such high respect, with many visitors, including Muslims, who flock to it each year to go around its steps to see Lebanon from Mary's eyes.
