Has carved its own sonic niche into my heart...
The Fender Rhodes is the ultimate electric piano. Played and made famous by such greats as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Billy Preston, Ray Manzarek (the Doors), Stevie Wonder, Richard Wright (Pink Floyd), and countless other jazz/blues/funk/latin/rock musicians, the Rhodes has found a place in most all genres of popular music. From the early Silver-Top and the classic Mark I, to the Flat-Top Mark II and Funky Dynos, the Rhodes piano has a special place in my heart. Undoubtedly my favorite musical instrument, its tone and expressiveness allow it to carve its own sonic niche in the soundscape of a composition. It just feels right.
