Maytag is a home and commercial appliance company that is now owned by the Whirpool Corporation. The company was started in 1907 by Frederick Louis Maytag.

It's like the clothes wash themselves.
I love my Maytag Neptunes so much I wrote an essay on how they changed my life! What a sense of freedom that the dryer was, and just as fast as the washer, my laundry stays caught up. And the timer, don't get me started ! Set it to wash while I am gone, and It'll be ready as soon as I get home. It's like the clothes wash themselves.

Today, that dependable twosome still labors
I grew up in Newton, Iowa, home of Maytag. Unlike most of my friends, nobody in my family worked for Maytag. We had a wringer washer; Mom dried wash on a clothesline. In the 50s when my brother got polio and my parents made daily 100-mile hospital trips, a kindly appliance dealer offered to do our family laundry in “demo” mode, mentioning a dealership promotion where each load would mean a chance at winning a new washer dryer. Mom won that free washer dryer ! In 1973, when we bought our first home in a far-away city, I'd have nothing but Maytag appliances - in spite of a salesman pushing another brand. Today, that dependable twosome still labors in our laundry room. Friends, family and coworkers hear my Maytag pitch. And I’d never buy anything else. Five years ago, I even posed for a photo with the Lonely Repairman.
