James Taylor is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is a 5-time Grammy Award winner and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. His bigger knwon hits include Fire and Rain, You've got a friend and Carolina in my mind.

Moves me just as much as it did 30 years ago
I had the privlidge of seeing James Taylor in concert two years ago. His voice, like his music, has stood the test of time. His voice is as crystal clear today, and his music moves me just as much as it did 30 years ago.

Triggers those "first time I heard..." memories...
The sweet, earnest sound of James Taylor has stayed with me because he's one of the few musicians who triggers those "first time I heard..." memories. I had just shifted into an apartment I shared with two other people. One of them, a nurse who worked shifts, and who I didn't get to see much, put this guy called James Taylor on the record player, and suddenly time stood still.

Sweet, melodically investive music
I first heard "Fire And Rain" 37 years ago. I liked the music and I listened to the words. They felt real, like a real story that someone I knew was trying to tell me. And of course they were. It was not much later that I found out that this was a characteristic of all of James' songs. They were all stories he wanted to tell to anyone who would listen. Five years ago when I had cancer, I had to lie perfectly still for 90 minutes while I was PETscanned. My choice of music to listen to - my only comfort for an uncomfortable hour and a half - was "Never Die Young" by James Taylor. I didn't. That's my story of what made James and his stories, sung with his perfect phrasing to his sweet, melodically inventive music, a Lovemark to me.
