Babylon 5

The Babylon 5 series initially aired from 1994 through 1998. The hub of the story is a large space station named Babylon 5; the five mile long, 2.5 million ton rotating colony is built to be a gathering place for fostering peace through diplomacy, trade and cooperation.

  • Daring and hard edged

Babylon 5 is simply the most daring and hard edged sci-fi show ever. Never easy to see right or wrong as the script was so sublime, your preferences as to who was the baddie and the goodie would change as the many layers were peeled back. The ingenious thing was that your opinions could change as you watched the show. And the characters were brilliant and superbly acted - especially andreas katsulas as G`kar. I cried in 2000 as the last show was aired... simply the best EVER!

  • Intricate story line

Created by J M Straczynski this series has raised the bar for sci-fi television serials. Its following is as fierce as any cult series. Its intricate story line, envisioned ahead of its production, and spanning a fixed 5 years was fantastic with true character development and smart writing. The scope of the series was epic, the themes relevant. It took risks and suffered many setbacks but prevailed in the end to become - so far - my favorite TV series of all time. Those who've watched it in its entirety often consider it one of the most important series of its genre.
