From Split Enz to Crowded House, the Finns have been the soundtrack to my life since 1982. They are the musical equivelent of a master painting, simple but elegant.

Pop songs for grown-ups
Like the Gershwins and John & Paul and only very few others, the Finn lads create pop songs for grown-ups. Lovely, lovely songs that just go straight to the heart of the matter. We went to see them in San Francisco and they clearly really enjoy playing their songs together.

Words, married with music
Tim and Neil Finn possess a unique gift that enables them to capture the essence of how people feel, combined with a talent for transferring those feelings into words, married with music. The lucky ones recognise and are therefore rewarded by their sheer talent now. For everyone else, the regret at not being part of The Finn Brothers phenomenon as it was taking place will surely be negated by the fact that music like this takes on a life of its own and no matter when the listener discovers it, it will be as blessed then as it is now. I'm one of the lucky ones.

Under-played and under-rated
The Finn brothers have a talent beyond description for lyrical and musical brilliance, and have been displaying this for nigh on 30 years now. Under-played and under-rated, their sheer brilliance was compounded this year on the Everyone Is Here Tour.

With his brother
Neil Finn is an amazing musician. He writes and composes his own music and has been in the music business since he was 17+ years. He started in brother Tim's band Split enz and was a major contributor to thier music. He had a brief spell with the Mullanes before forming one of the best groups ever Crowded House [also on Lovemarks.com]. I loved their lyrics and music and they inspire me every day. When the group split in 1996 it was the end of an era. Neil has taken the solo world by storm creating some of the most beautiful music I have ever listened to. And in between has created two ground breaking albums with his brother. Not one day goes by without my listening to something by Neil.
