Heifer International is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to relieving global hunger and poverty. It gifts livestock and plants, as well as provides agricultural education to disadvantage families.

Donated around the world
HPI was founded over 60 years ago to help poor families feed their children. It was started by ranchers here in the US and with only cows or heifers. Each family would receive a heifer and a volunteer would show the family how to milk it and grow the grains that the cow eats. The program has expanded to dozens of other animals, teaching how to do small farming, how to use shade trees to retain water into the crops and dig a well for water, if needed. Others participate as donors or volunteers. This organization is NOT well known since they don't spend any donated money on advertising even though it's been around for as long as World Vision, Feed the Children and Save the Children.
