  • Thank you C.S.Lewis!

In fifth grade we read "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." I remember devouring, and caring the most about the symbolism and metaphors inherent in the story. I loved it so much my teacher gave me a full set of the books, which I have read into oblivion and have partially memorized. Narnia is a home I remember well- Aslan and the caring, loving and yet highly individual animals were just what I needed. And now Narnia is coming to the screen with special effects and hopefully (cross your fingers) the same love and affection C.S. Lewis exuded throughout. Thank you C.S.Lewis!

  • I love him for what he gave me

I developed my ability to imagine, and a love of the written word thanks to C S Lewis. Aged 6, I was given a copy of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" and passionately read all of the Narnia Chronicles over the following months. Talking Lion's, mystical lands, witches and young heroes fuelled my imagination then as Harry Potter does for todays children. As I grew older I discovered his adult fiction and Perelandra is still one of the most exciting books I have ever devoured! I love him for what he gave me, but also for the painfully honest books he wrote about his own life, part of which was captured in the film "Shadowlands". Oh and I gave the Narnia adventures to my Harry Potter besotted god-daughter a month ago. She is on book 3 and hooked for life!
