  • It is extraordinary

Rugby is extraordinary. They run and they run fast and they run deep. The ball goes from one to another and it goes in the midle and then fast from the back of the field in the front and then from one hand to another. The brave runners pass the ball from one to another into their adversary's field. They go in front with the ball, but they pass back. It's beyond logic and common sense. It is extraordinary.

  • Can't Wait For The Kick Off

It's the eve of the fifth Rugby World Cup. This is one sport that doesn't have grand pretentions off the field. It's a competition where the game will beat the hype. Thirty players, eighty minutes a game, 48 matches! National teams that are into their third century of contest. Raw power, emotion, passion, drama. Can't wait till the kick off.

  • The love of the game

I'm 37 years old in three weeks time, I have a paralysed diaphragm, two rounded vertebrae, one dodgy knee, an ankle that clicks when I walk. When I wake up, I can't feel the fingers on my left hand due to nerve exposure in my spine; I've had a broken nose and both wrists have random pieces of bone floating about in them. Yet this weekend my game at the Hong Kong Football Club is cancelled and I am livid! So I am flying to Singapore to play in a 7's tournament, partly as a memorial to those of my friends and fellow players who died in Bali, but most importantly for the love of the game and the people who play it!
