Less really is more
I've owned a Lotus for a quarter of my life. Sure it's not a Ferrari, it has half the cylinders, a third the technology, but it has as good a power to weight ratio, you feel the car. You catch everyone under brakes coz it's so light. You are one with the car. Rackham and Thompson are geniuses. Their chassis design is still way ahead of its time...and you can work on the car yourself. Less really is more people.

Pumped up to the maximum
I 've recently joined the club of Lotus happy owners. Wooooowwww....this car rocks!!! What can I say. The first time I drove my Elise I felt like my testosterone and adrenaline levels were pumped up to the maximum. I can't believe the stuff I can do with my Lotus. Just hearing that motor roaring... makes me go wild!!

Does nobody care about handling or design?
At 22 I had to be one of the youngest Lotus owners around. 700Kg's of British Racing Green Lotus Elise all the way from Norfolk. Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious? Maybe! But who cares if the roof leaks, if the handbrake light stays on, or if the headlamp casings rot? Does nobody care about handling or design? What about those wing mirrors...

Can't keep the grin off your face
Working for Rootes main dealer in 1966. I 'borrowed'!! a Bristol bodied climax engined Lotus elite off the forecourt!! Then I attempted to outdrag a very quick go-kart on Croydon aerodrome. Hurtling down the straight - got to the end going way too fast - ran out of road - turned a very hard and sharp left waiting for the inevitable roll - Nothing! just turned left - on rails!!! Fantastic big turn on, loved that car. Owned CC's forerunner to the original 7 an Austin seven engined special. Fantastic fun. Got married - got skint stayed married - got rich - had a procession of daft quick cars then stumbled on an immaculate Excel SE. Wow! a reliable Lotus - well it is now. Best value for money in a modern classic vastly underated you can't keep the grin off your face.. once it's warmed up, sounds marvellous.

Immediately fell in love
I immediately fell in love with Lotus, when I saw my first Lotus Esprit in James Bond's "The Spy Who Loved Me". Since then I bought three Lotuses - '88 Lotus Excel SE, '99 Lotus Elise, '87 Lotus TurboEsprit. Ciao, JB

The power of 'less is more'
Lotus stands for the power of 'less is more' in the face of wretched excess which grips society today. Brands which offer better choices, as opposed to just offering more choices, resonate longer and with greater clarity than brands which take the "Ginsu 2" tack. For example, Porsche would have done much better to launch a new brand, than to produce the Cayenne under its brand. Thank god SUVs weren't the latest fad when Lamborghini produced the LM001, Ferrari has the good sense to remain relatively true to their tradition, and Bugatti wasn't resurrected as some latter day Maybach...

First love
LOTUS was my first love in racing cars in the 1960's. Now, I am enjoying Chapmans cars, a Europa and an Super-7, in the 2000's. It's surprising how many people can not believe that my cars were designed 40-50 years ago.

A double whammy
The effect of Colin Chapman's maxim of "add lightness" shows in my Seven and my Europa S2 when comparing them with my Porsche 928S4. But 1.6 litres against 5 litres, to say nothing of the cost, still means similar performance and fun. My race number for the Seven is 123, chosen for the Lotus spreadsheet [a double whammy for the world's best now sadly submerged by the appalling Excel from Microsoft].

Great passion
I've had my Lotus Elan for 39 years and my wife for 38. Both have been the source of great passion and occasional frustration. I would not trade either one. I guess that's love.

It's there forever
Chapman created cars without compromise for those who shared his passion for simplicity, performance, elegance and pure fun of driving. After 45 years my Elite still delivers on that passion. Of course there have been moments of frustration and despair, but that can be said of any loving long term relationship. When a Lotus Elite enters your heart it's there forever. It truly was love at first sight.
