Designed to outlive you
I have been buying Carhartt for many years now and have never had a good enough reason to throw a Carhartt product away (my waistline begs to differ). The garments are designed to outlive you, stay with you and build character and memory associations as you wear them. The ultimate in functionality and almost an accidental fashion icon. Long-live my Siberian parka!

They are my second skin.
Basic, rough, cool, durable, set apart from any other fashion, I've got two of their jackets and they are my second skin. One of them, an older model, my "Detroit Jacket" is getting old and getting better. Here in Europe Carhartt seems different, I can't find the real deal, the items sold seem different and more expensive. It's almost as if they have become high fashion.

I am instantly familiar and at ease...
My grandfather, who was a sort of John Wayne type, larger-than-life character, always wore Carhartt coveralls and jackets around his farm. By the time I reached adulthood, and my Grandfather had long since passed away, the unique tan, canvas material of Carharrt clothing had become a signal for the hardworking, honest and rugged nature of its wearers. To this day, when I see someone wearing that logo, I am instantly familiar and at ease with the person, as if they are imbued with personality of the brand, whether I know them or not. This seems about as powerful as any brand can be.

Carhartt's are more than clothing
Carhartt's are more than clothing, they're a second skin. The official uniform of Alaska, (where indeed it's true, they have saved lives) there is nothing that hasn't been done in Carhartts, including birth or death. When you've acquired some Carhartt apparel, you'll know...

Something must be going on!
The outdoor clothing which saves peoples lives, if you believe the stories on their website. It's a US company making clothes for tough blue-collar workers in the US - so when my friends who live in Brixton (England) and work for website design companies start wearing Carhartt t shirts, something must be going on!
