Lost the flavor
I worked for General Motors for 34 years at the Tech Center in Warren, Michigan. I was a NASCAR fan for many years and was fortunate to meet many of the influential people involved in this sport. Lately NASCAR has gone Hollywood and lost the flavor of the sport as it was for many years. I am a big fan of motorcycle road racing now - where you can still see some of the personal character of the participants and see some real racing action that is not monitored by the organizers.

Always loved NASCAR
I grew up around NASCAR, in the hometown of 4 top-curcuit competitors (Hueytown, AL), and have always loved the sound of the engines, the speed of the cars, and just everything about being at a live race. NASCAR has changed significantly over the last 20-25 years, even in the last 10 years, and now it is a sport that has evolved from its good 'ol boy redneck roots and is enjoyed all over the country and even the world. I am college-educated and don't drink, but I still find the sport enjoyable to watch. The competition does not get any better than on the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.

Color, competition and noise
I grew up in the southern US and experienced stock car racing in the 50s. My family was involved and my late father helped build a car for my cousin in 1954. I love color, competition, and noise - and Nascar racing delivers all three. I have followed racing of all kinds as I've matured and it seems like Nascar is rising on the Respect axis while slipping back on the Love axis.
