Folly Beach

Folly Beach

  • I would never live anywhere else again

They call it the Edge of America, but in truth it is a center of America's past - and future. Once a Civil War battleground, an infirmary for the sick in the 1800's, and a military base in the modern era - it is now one of the last places in America to work actively to preserve the endangered Loggerhead sea turtles and other native beach flora and fauna. Though Folly is a tourist destination in the summer, the rest of the year it is home to an eclectic and wonderful mix of the rich and the poor, the hippies and the blue collar workers, and people from all over the world who, on first seeing Folly Beach, would never live anywhere else again.
