  • Despite the storm

This weekend my girlfriend was coming up to visit me in Buffalo. The one thing she wanted to do with me was go to Wegmans while she was here. I set aside Saturday for her so that we could grocery shopping in order for her to get her fix. Unfortunately Saturday we were hit with a snowstorm. Had I told her we weren’t going she would have understood, but she would have been heartbroken. Instead I decided to take her despite the storm. It was an awful day for driving but at least I was one of only four people on the road. The craziest thing, though, was when we got to Wegmans the parking lot was full! Apparently we aren’t the only ones who don’t think twice before driving through a snow storm to shop at Wegmans.

  • The most wonderful grocery store in America

Wegmans is the most wonderful grocery store in America. I never realized just how wonderful it is until I moved away from upstate New York and experienced the grocery stores in metropolitan New York/tri-state area. Wegmans has the freshest produce, the best prepared foods, an incredible bakery, an amazing selection of packaged food, and incredible prices. Imagine Whole Foods quality with 100 times more selection + low prices! But truly, Wegmans is wonderful because of the people who work there. No wonder Fast Company magazine recognized it for its customer service and Fortune rated it the #1 company to work for. I have numerous stories of Wegmans employees who have gone above and beyond. The only bad thing I have to say about Wegmans is that it doesn't have a store in Caldwell, NJ!

  • All grocery stores are not alike

After moving to Missouri from upstate New York in 1997, one of the hardest things to get used to was not having a Wegmans to shop at. I would try to tell people about this great store that I used to shop at and they would look crazy like "a grocery store is a grocery store". Well, all grocery stores are not alike and there are not many like Wegmans. We still try to make a point of going a Wegmans when we visit back east.

  • The really amazing thing...

Wegman's is, hands-down, the very best grocery store on the planet. First, their marketplace section boasts the most inspiring selection of top-quality fresh meats and fish, a phenomenal cheese section, and artisanal breads that rival the best bakeries out there. But the really amazing thing about Wegman's is that their regular grocery section isn't overpriced -- in fact, they stay very competitive with the other big chains. That, plus the fact that Wegman's is regularly rated by Fortune magazine as one of the top 100 places to work, something that is clearly evident in every employee I've ever encountered. Without fail, Wegman's staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about their product, and enthusiastic about their job. Wegman's is a great place to work and a fantastic place to shop. I hope they are around for a long, long time to come!

  • Make a pilgrimage to be near one

From the smell of the bread, the vastness of the produce, the awe-inspiring displays of food in abundance, Wegmans inspires me. How can you get so excited about a grocery store? Ask the unknowing, only to be swept by a wave of understanding, when they enter a Wegmans for the first time. When I lived away, I made a pilgrimage whenever near one...there simply is no better food store than Wegmans.
