The best advice
Preparing to embark on my first 4 day walk I listened to all the advice I could. The best advice was to get Leki poles. Not one Leki pole; not standard Leki; but the full monty triple shock absorbing pair. The best advice I ever had. The walking ease, balance and confidence they provide on rough ground or sloping terrain can't be praised enough. Don't think about it - get them if you are walking for more than a day. Your body will thank you for them - mine did!

Made for a single purpose
I recently moved from London to Brisbane, in Queensland Australia. To appreciate this vast country we started doing some walkabouts - weekends, weeks, short trips, long trips. The Leki sticks make these expeditions a little less arduous and far more leisurable - we don't stumble as often! When you walk a lot you need them. They're great over harsh terrain, made for a single purpose, well engineered and styled. It's made our walking life a pleasure.
