Sweetheart, riot, goofball, philosopher
Marmaduke is such a (pick one or all): sweetheart, riot, goofball, philosopher (OK, maybe that's a stretch). When I was a kid, my family got a big, brown dog from the animal shelter and named her Marmaduke. She had clearly been beaten. She dropped to the floor every time one of us picked up the broom. But during her first night at our house she was guarding us, barking at anyone who approached the property. We discovered quickly that she was abandoned because she was pregnant. She had ten puppies. We kept in touch with the owners we found for one puppy, Skippy. He cleared tabletops with a sweep of his tail. They were always picking up after him. But they loved him for his affectionate personality, just like we loved Marmaduke.

Bundle of love
Marmaduke is such an adorable, playful, beautiful dog who has brought me an enormous amount of pleasure over the years. He is an amazing bundle of love and joy, a delightful dog who is wonderfully charming and rambunctious, adventurous and mischievous, a comic book dog real in his emotions, a dog I would love to have as my own. I smile every time I see Marmaduke in the comics and a day without Marmaduke is a day with one less smile. Marmaduke is the canine treasure of the comics, and has the longevity to prove it! He has been in the comics for fifty years, and has just entered his sixth decade. Marmaduke touches my heart and is one of life's blessings I am most grateful for.
